Turning a Blind Eye: A Lesson in Peace That Hit Home

A few weeks back I stumbled across a reel of an old man sharing some simple, solid advice:

"Turn a blind eye sometimes, for your own peace."

It's the kind of wisdom I've always carried with me, rooted in the Islamic values I grew up with. Patience. Letting go. Choosing calm over chaos. But for some reason, hearing it this time landed differently. Maybe it's the noise of life lately. Whatever it was, his words cut through like a quiet bell and I've been sitting with them ever since.

It's funny how something you've known your whole life can suddenly click in a new way. As a perfectionist, I'm wired to notice everything. Every snag, every detail, every chance to tweak and improve. I call it pixel obsession and I genuinely can't help it. But that same instinct can leave you wound tight, chasing fights that don't need fighting, burning energy on things that don't move anything forward.

The old man's words reminded me there's real strength in stepping back. It's not about ignoring what matters. It's about knowing when to let the small stuff slide before it costs you more than it's worth. Choosing peace isn't weakness. Sometimes it's the clearest headed move you can make.

For me it was a quiet nudge toward balance. A little piece of clarity I didn't know I needed.
